Total Loss Gap for Vauxhall

Have you bought a Vauxhall car? With the ever popular Corsa and Astra models leading the way, the Vauxhall brand has been one of the UK's highest volume car manufacturers for many years. Find out what Total Loss Gap can offer you to protect your car. If you are buying your new Vauxhall from a VAT registered motor dealer then you may probably be looking at a range of products that the dealership has offered. What Total Loss Gap can do is offer a number of alternatives for you to compare and consider. Remember we only sell insurance products, and as such we understand the market well. We hope to show you why our products for your Vauxhall will provide not only better cover features but also better value premiums.

What Total Loss Gap can offer for your protection with your Vauxhall purchase

There are five basic products that we can provide for your Vauxhall.

1 - Total Loss Gap Insurance

If you are considering a Gap Insurance policy for your Vauxhall then this is how our Total Loss Gap Insurance product can work for you.

If you buy your new vehicle and it is involved in a fire, theft or accident in the future that leads to the motor insurer declaring the vehicle a 'total loss' or 'write off' then this may involve your fully comprehensive insurer only offering you the value of the vehicle at point of loss, not the price you paid for it. A Total Loss Gap Insurance policy can cover the difference between the motor insurer's settlement and the highest of:

  • the outstanding finance settlement (if there is one)
  • the original invoice price you paid when you bought the vehicle
  • the replacement cost of the vehicle with one of the same age, mileage, and specification at the time you bought it. ie if it was new then the cost of another new Vauxhall

The added bonus is that there is no upper 'claim limit' on the policy to cover the difference required.  Total Loss Gap Insurance for Vauxhall

So in a practical example of how Total Loss Gap Insurance works

Let's say you buy a brand new Vauxhall CORSA HATCHBACK 1.4 ecoFLEX SRi 3dr for £12,000 . Let's also assume you take it on PCP finance over 3 years with a balloon payment of £4,000 in 3 years time.

After 2 years your Vauxhall is stolen, and your motor insurer offers a settlement of £6,000 and your finance settlement is £7,000.

Your Total Loss Gap will cover the difference between the motor insurers settlement at £6,000 and the higher of

  • the finance settlement (£7,000)
  • the original invoice price (£12,000)
  • the cost of the equivalent brand new Vauxhall Corsa SRI. Let's say this is now £14,000

So in this case, the Total Loss Gap Insurance policy would cover to the replacement cost (£14,000), as this is the highest when you make a claim, from the £16,000 your motor insurer has settled. Out of your total £14,000 you can pay off your finance at £7,000. This will leave you £7,000 for a deposit for a new vehicle in this example.

The policy will also cover up to £1500 of additional dealer accessories, shown on the sales invoice when you bought the vehicle. Items could include paint protection treatments or tow bars for example.

Finally, the policy can also cover up to £250 or any excess deducted from the motor insurers settlement at point of total loss.

The advantage of Total Loss Gap for your Vauxhall

The idea with Total Loss Gap Insurance is that it provides the very best outcome and takes away the initial guesswork when you are buying your car. How do we do this?

If you are considering Gap Insurance for your vehicle then, once you have done your research you will probably be faced with a choice of potentially three different types of Gap Insurance, namely

  • Finance Gap
  • Combined Return to Invoice Gap
  • Combined Vehicle Replacement Gap

Now the obvious question is 'Which one is best for me?'

The answer is maybe. It depends on a number of factors; how you bought the vehicle, did you take it on finance, if so, how much deposit did you put in? Did you get a discount on the Vauxhall, how much more may it cost to replace? The list really does go on.

Then when you have considered all of these questions you are faced with working out how much cover you need. This is done by selecting a 'claim limit' on the policy. Your motor dealer may have offered you a Gap Insurance with a fixed claim limit, with no option to change this even if it is potentially not enough for the vehicle purchase you are making.

These variables create plenty of doubt and confusion. Let's be fair to come up with the perfect answer your would probably need to have a crystal ball! Or maybe you could just use a Total Loss Gap Insurance. Why? simply because with Total Loss you will get the best solution should the worst happen to your car.

2 - Alloy Wheel Insurance for Vauxhall

If you have an Vauxhall then you, no doubt, have a very nice set of shiny alloy wheels on the car. When you pick up your vehicle they will look pristine, but driving on today's roads it can be very difficult to keep them that way. That is why more and more people are looking to Alloy Wheel Insurance to cover the cost of repairing damaged alloys. Again this is where Total Loss Gap can provide you with, what we believe is one of the very best Alloy Wheel Insurance products on the market today.

Before we get to just why the Alloy Insurance from Total Loss Gap may stand out from the crowd, first we will explain exactly what alloy wheel insurance does.

If you suffer accidental or malicious damage to your alloy, and a typical example of this would be when you rub against a kerb and scuff the alloy, then the cost of this unsightly repair can be something like £50-£100. Not something that will bring joy to your day!

With Alloy Wheel Insurance from Total Loss Gap you can cover the cost of such a repair. If you claim on the policy then our Claims Team will arrange for a mobile repairer to come to your home, or place of work and do the repair in situ. If the repair is such that it cannot be done my the mobile repairer then we can send the alloy off to a specialist factory refurbisher by courier.                    alloy wheel insurance for BMW

5 - Scratch and Dent Insurance for Vauxhall

Have you ever suffer the annoyance of getting a scuff on your bumper, or perhaps a trolley ding in the side of your car? The beautiful condition you picked up your vehicle in can be very hard to maintain with the increased traffic on the UK roads, and the seemingly tighter spaces found in car parks. The sinking feeling you get when you return to your vehicle to see damage to your bodywork can be aggravating and expensive to repair.

Of course, you do have the option of claiming for these types of damage on your comprehensive motor insurance policy. However, this may affect your no claims bonus and your subsequent annual premiums. This seems to add insult to injury for many.

The alternatives include taking a Scratch and Dent Insurance policy that will allow you to cover the costs of minor cosmetic damage on your vehicle in one insurance product. Now Scratch and Dent Insurance is not a miracle cure for any type of damage on a vehicle. For example, where the damage is such that it has to be repaired by a body shop then we cannot cover this type of eventuality. How the Scratch and Dent Insurance would work is where you get a scuff or scrape that can be repaired by a mobile repairer using the SMART repair techniques. Scuffed bumpers and trolley dings to your doors are typically the type of damage that can be claimed for on this policy.   scratch and dent insurance quote for Vauxhall

Why is Scratch and Dent Insurance from Total Loss Gap different from others?

Just a few reasons

  • more claims - most providers only allow 2 or 3 claims a year, with Total Loss Gap Scratch and Dent cover a maximum is 6 claims per 12 months. That means up to 18 claims over a 3-year policy

This can be crucial with the likes of a pearlescent paint finish where blending paint can necessitate the repair extending to a second panel
  • low excess - we only charge an excess/call out charge of £10 per claim
  • no waiting period - you can claim for any new damage* straight away with Total Loss Gap Scratch and Dent Insurance. Many other providers have a 'waiting period' during which time any damage cannot be claimed for.
