Cooling Off & Cancellation | Total Loss Gap

Policy Type | Cooling Off Period

All new policies purchased after the 1st of August 2023 have a day 30 cooling off period.

We understand that circumstances change, and you may change your mind on whether the insurance is a good idea for you.

That's why we have extended the standard statutory 14-day cooling-off period to 30 days.

Therefore, should you change your mind, you can cancel and obtain a full refund.

Every form of insurance you buy must include a period within which you can change your mind. This is often called a cooling-off period.

If you have purchased a policy before the 1st of August 2023, please see your policy terms and conditions under the section cancellation and cooling off your details, as depending upon the policy you have purchased, this may be restricted to 14 days.

If you buy a policy and change your mind for whatever reason and you are within the cooling-off period, providing that you have not attempted to make a claim, you can simply contact us, and we will cancel your policy and issue a full refund.

What happens if you want to cancel and you're outside of the cooling-off period?

For policies purchased before the 1st of August 2023

Gap Insurance, you will still have the ability to cancel your policy and obtain a pro-rata refund less a £35 cancellation fee, again, provided you haven't attempted to make a claim. Unfortunately, with the other policies listed, you don't have the option to cancel outside of the cooling-off period and obtain a pro-rata refund. That said, we always urge you to contact a member of the customer service team to discuss your options and find out which is the most cost-effective way to move forward.

For policies purchased after the 1st of August 2023

You will have the ability to cancel your policy and obtain a pro-rata refund, less a £35 cancellation fee, on the understanding that you haven't attempted to make a claim. Please remember that this may not always be the best option, as depending upon your vehicle we may be able to simply transfer your cover over to your new vehicle ( terms and eligibility apply ).
