Total Loss Gap Insurance for your Alfa Romeo

If you buy your new Alfa Romeo from a VAT-registered motor dealer, you may want to protect it with Gap insurance and a range of other products your dealership may have already offered.

Total Loss Gap can offer several alternatives for you to compare and consider. Remember, we only sell insurance products, so we understand the market well. We want to show you why our products for your Alfa Romeo will provide better cover features and better value-for-money premiums.

Why should you choose Total Loss Gap Insurance to protect your Alfa Romeo?

If you are considering a Gap Insurance policy for your Alfa Romeo, this is how our Total Loss Gap Insurance product can work for you.

Suppose you buy your new vehicle and it is involved in a fire, theft or accident in the future that leads to the motor insurer declaring the car a 'total loss' or 'write off'. In that case, this may involve your fully comprehensive insurer only offering you the vehicle's value at the point of loss, not the price you paid. A Total Loss Gap Insurance policy can cover the difference between the motor insurer's settlement and the highest of:

  • The outstanding finance settlement (if there is one)
  • The original invoice price you paid when you bought the vehicle
  • The replacement cost of the vehicle with one of the same age, mileage, and specification as the one you bought when you bought it. For example, if it was new, then the cost of another new Alfa Romeo.

The extra bonus is that if your Alfa Romeo costs less than £75,000, the policy does not have an upper 'claim limit'; it is as big or as small as necessary to ensure that you are fully covered.

So, in a practical example of how Total Loss Gap Insurance works

  1. Suppose you buy a brand new Alfa Romeo GIULIETTA DIESEL HATCHBACK 1.6 JTDM-2 120 Tecnica 5dr for £19000.
  2. Let's also assume you take it on PCP finance over four years with a balloon payment of £6,000 in four years.
  3. After 3 years, your Alfa Romeo is stolen, and your motor insurer offers a settlement of £8,000,
  4. Your finance settlement is £10,000.

Your Total Loss Gap will cover the difference between the motor insurer settlement at £8,000 and the higher of

  • The finance settlement (£10,000)
  • The original invoice price (£19,000)
  • The cost of the equivalent brand new Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Let's say this is now £21,000

So, in this case, the Total Loss Gap Insurance policy would cover the replacement cost (£21,000), as this is the highest when you make a claim from the £8,000 your motor insurer has settled. Out of your total £21,000 you can pay off your finance at £10,000. This will leave you £11,000 for a deposit for a new vehicle in this example.

The policy will also cover up to £1500 of additional dealer accessories, as shown on the sales invoice when you buy the vehicle. Items could include paint protection treatments or tow bars, for example.

Finally, the policy can also cover up to £250 or any excess deducted from the motor insurer settlement at the point of total loss.

The advantage of Total Loss Gap for your Alfa Romeo

The idea behind Total Loss Gap Insurance is that it provides the very best outcome and removes the initial guesswork when buying a car. How do we do this?

If you are considering Gap Insurance for your vehicle, then once you have done your research, you will probably be faced with a choice of potentially three different types of Gap Insurance, namely

The obvious question is, 'Which gap insurance is best for me?'

The answer is maybe. It depends on several factors:

  • How did you buy your Alfa Romeo?
  • Whether you took it on finance?
  • What type of finance did you use?
  • How much deposit did you put in?
  • What will you be using your Alf for?
  • How old is your Alfa Romeo?
  • What mileage is already on the clock?
  • Did you get a discount on the Alfa Romeo?
  • How much more may it cost to replace it?

We hope you get the idea as the list goes on and on.

After considering all these questions, you must determine how much cover you need. This is done by selecting a 'claim limit' on the policy. Your motor dealer may have offered you Gap Insurance with a fixed claim limit, with no option to change this even if it is potentially not enough for the vehicle purchase you are making.

These variables create plenty of doubt and confusion. Let's be fair: To come up with the perfect answer, you would probably need a crystal ball!

Or maybe you could use Total Loss Gap Insurance. Why? With Total Loss, you will get the best solution should the worst happen to your car.

Alloy Wheel Insurance for Alfa Romeo

If you have an Alfa, you undoubtedly have a very nice set of shiny alloy wheels on the car. When you pick up your vehicle, they will look pristine, but driving on today's roads, it can be not easy to keep them that way. That is why more and more people are looking to Alloy Wheel Insurance to cover the cost of repairing damaged alloys. Again this is where Total Loss Gap can provide you with, what we believe is one of the very best Alloy Wheel Insurance products on the market today.

Before we explain why Alloy Wheel Insurance from Total Loss Gap may stand out from the crowd, we will first explain exactly what alloy wheel insurance does.

If you suffer accidental or malicious damage to your alloy, a typical example being when you rub against a kerb and scuff the alloy, the cost of this unsightly repair can be around £50-£100. Not something that will bring joy to your day!

With Alloy Wheel Insurance from Total Loss Gap, you can cover the cost of such a repair. If you claim on the policy, our Claims Team will arrange for a mobile repairer to come to your home or place of work and do the repair in situ. If the repair is so extensive that it cannot be done by the mobile repairer, with the claims team's authorisation, you can nominate your local repairer. Pay the invoice up to £250, then send it in for a refund.

Why is Alloy Wheel Insurance from Total Loss Gap different?

Just a few reasons for you

  • More claims - most providers only allow 2 or 3 claims per year, with Total Loss Gap Alloy cover, the maximum is 4 per 12 months
  • More cover - we have the option to nominate your local repairer or main dealership, and even £150 towards the cost of a replacement if the alloy is beyond repair.
  • Cover for diamond and laser cut alloys - almost all of our competitors do not cover diamond and laser cut alloys. As these types of alloys are becoming more and more popular, and it can be very difficult to tell if you have them, we think this feature is key.

Tyre Insurance for Alfa Romeo

Tyre Insurance is designed to protect you against the costs of replacing or repairing a tyre on your Alfa that may have been damaged maliciously or accidentally. An example may be when you drive over a pothole or a nail, and your tyre suffers damage that may mean it needs to be replaced. The costs of replacing a tyre can be relatively high; however, if you take a tyre insurance policy, then you can cover these costs should these incidents occur.

The covered we provide can also cover the cost of a puncture repair, should this be appropriate also.

What makes Tyre Insurance from Total Loss Gap different?

Just a few reasons for you

  • More claims - most providers only allow 2 or 3 claims a year, or impose a maximum of 5 claims for the entire policy term, with Total Loss Gap Alloy cover the maximum is 4 per 12 months. That means up to 16 replacements over a 4 year policy
  • More cover - we cover up to £350 per tyre replacement. Many other providers only allow £150-£300 per tyre replacement.
  • Cover for run-flat tyres - many manufacturers put the advanced technology 'run flat' tyres on vehicles. These are fine, except they can rarely be repaired. Total Loss Gap tyre cover allows an option for run-flat tyres.

Combined Tyre and Alloy Wheel Insurance for Alfa Romeo

If you are considering alloy wheel insurance and Tyre Insurance for your Alfa Romeo, then a Complete Wheel Protection package may be perfect. This policy simply combines the Alloy Wheel Insurance and Tyre Insurance into one policy. You get all the features for each policy as if you bought them separately, but by combining the cover, the cost of the policy is lower than buying the individual products.

So with a Complete Wheel package, you get 4 claims for Alloy repair AND 4 for Tyre replacements or repair per 12-month period at a vastly reduced price.

Scratch and Dent Insurance for Alfa Romeo

Have you ever suffered the annoyance of getting a scuff on your bumper or perhaps a trolley ding in the side of your car? The beautiful condition you picked up your vehicle in can be very hard to maintain with the increased traffic on UK roads and the seemingly tighter spaces found in car parks. The sinking feeling you get when you return to your vehicle to see damage to your bodywork can be aggravating and expensive to repair.

Of course, you can claim for these types of damage on your comprehensive motor insurance policy. However, this may affect your no-claims bonus and your subsequent annual premiums. This seems to add insult to injury for many.

The alternatives include taking a Scratch and Dent Insurance policy that will allow you to cover the costs of minor cosmetic damage on your vehicle in one insurance product. Now, Scratch and Dent Insurance is not a miracle cure for any damage to a vehicle. For example, where the damage is such that it has to be repaired by a body shop, then we cannot cover this type of eventuality. How the Scratch and Dent Insurance would work is where you get a scuff or scrape that can be repaired by a mobile repairer using the SMART repair techniques. Scuffed bumpers and trolley dings to your doors are typically the type of damage that can be claimed for on this policy.

Why is Scratch and Dent Insurance from Total Loss Gap different from others?

Just a few reasons

  • more claims - most providers only allow 2 or 3 claims a year, with Total Loss Gap Scratch and Dent covering a maximum of 6 claims per 12 months. That means up to 24 claims over a 4-year policy
  • more cover - we cover up to 30cm area of damage across 2 panels of the car. Many other providers will only cover if the damage is contained within one panel. This can be crucial with a pearlescent paint finish where blending paint can necessitate the repair extending to a second panel
  • No Excess- we do not charge an excess or call-out fee.
  • No-waiting period - This applies to brand new cars when you purchased your scratch and dent policy before you took delivery.

A brief overview of Alfa Romeo and its roots

They are an Italian car manufacturer with a long-standing history of producing high-performance sports cars. Alfa was formed in 1910 and has been at the forefront of automotive engineering, combining sleek designs with advanced technology to create iconic models. Alfa Romeo's commitment to innovation was unwavering, even during the challenging times of the Second World War. Alfa moved its production to supply military equipment, a testament to its versatility and dedication to excellence. This period saw the birth of iconic models like the 24 HP, which triumphed in the Targa Florio race in 1911, and the Giulietta, Giulia, and Spider.

Alfa Romeo's dominance in motorsports, including its impressive Formula One World Championship wins in the 1950s, firmly established its reputation for power, performance, and speed.

Despite financial challenges in the 1970s and 80s, Alfa Romeo's story took a turn for the better when the Fiat Group acquired it. This strategic move revitalised the brand and ensured its continued success. Today, Alfa Romeo stands tall as a producer of high-performance sports cars, a testament to its advanced engineering, sleek design, and cutting-edge technology. It has earned its place as a true icon in the automotive industry.
