What paperwork will our claims team need when you make a total loss gap insurance claim?

We completely understand that you only really know just how good an insurance policy is when you make a claim and this is where we genuinely believe we excell.

Yes the price you pay is important but what happens and how quickly you are settled will be the lasting impression.

Being brutally honest it is in our interests to ensure that you are looked after. Not only because when you make a claim you will be asked to rate the service you received which could ultimately affect our team bonus, but also because we completely understand that if your claim is dealt with correctly you are statistically more likely to buy another policy.

So what paper work if any will you need to give to the claims team?

Our claims team just like your own insurance company will require some documentation and in some cases this may be exactly the same so we would request that to avoid any delay in processing your claim you take copies of the following documentation before you send any originals to your motor insurance company.

  • A copy of your V5 / log book - (this is not needed if your vehicle is a lease hire or contract hire vehicle)
  • A copy of your insurance certificate - (to show that you were insured to drive the vehicle)
  • A copy of your MOT certificate if your vehicle requires one - (this is to show that your vehicle was legally able to be on the road)
  • A copy of your invoice for the vehicle - (if you do not have a copy the quickest way may be to contact your supplying dealership)
  • A Settlement letter - If your vehicle is on finance the claims team will also require an updated settlement letter so that they can ensure they pay the correct amount to your finance or contract hire company.
  • Motor insurance companies offer - they will need a copy of the letter that in which your own insurance company state exactly how much they are offering you in settlement.

Depending upon your claim they may also ask for other supporting documentation. This list is not definitive instead it is intended to be a guide as to the forms of documents our claims team will need. The sole reason for making the guide is that we want to bring to your attention that we will require copies of a lot of the same information as your own motor insurance company. This means that if you send all of the original documents directly to them this may cause a slight delay as we will have to request copies.

We would also remind you that as well as our claims team we are only ever a click or a call away. Our advisors are trained to be able to assist.
