The results are in and we now know what were the best selling vehicles here in the United Kingdom for the month of May. Amongst the list of the best sellers for the month, we some familiar faces continue to dominate the market but one trending pattern we noticed with the sales was that virtually all of the cars in the list were low emission vehicles which shows what some drivers are looking for in a new car at the moment. Ford continued to dominate the market with their number one selling vehicle coming in the form of the Fiesta which was followed up in the number two spot by the Focus. Slowly catching up in third place was the Vauxhall Corsa with 6,513 new units registered. Vehicles such as the Polo and Golf from Volkswagen and the Juke and ever popular Qashqai also remained just in the top ten. 9,349 units of the Fiesta topped the charts for May.
Suzuki develop their very first engine
Suzuki are this week celebrating a break through as far as advancement in engine development is concerned. The Japanese brand officially confirmed this week that they have developed their very own diesel engine which will make its grand debut in the Celerio model for the Indian market to begin with but could also find its way amongst other vehicles in the near future and across other markets too. The new engine has been developed with weight reduction in mind with the most part of the unit being made from aluminium material. The engine only delivers on 47bhp which means only smaller city cars such as the Swift are likely to receive the new diesel setup with that being demonstrated by the Celerio. Still though, this is a big breakthrough for the brand and we are looking forward to seeing where they can take their future engine development from here.
The Hyundai Creta on the way
Hyundai have been hard at work on developing a new mid sized suv for the road and this week the Korean firm confirmed that the car will be called the 'Creta'. The brand confirmed that the vehicle will become available much like Suzuki's new diesel engine just for the Indian market to begin with but there is possibility that the car will make its way here to Britain and other European countries soon after. Hyundai are still remaining a little silent on what we can expect to find underneath the bonnet of the new 'Creta' and other technical information but the brand have designed the new car in order to try and bring in more sales for the brand in general and this segment. However we do know that the design of the car will be based heavily on that of the ix25 concept machine that was previously revealed.
