Tyre and Alloy Wheel Maintenance Plan
Looking after your car's tyres and alloy wheels is important to many vehicle owners. Whilst keeping alloy wheels in good condition may help maintain a vehicle’s value, keeping tyres in excellent condition is essential for both safety and performance.
Tyres and alloy wheels are among the most commonly damaged parts of any vehicle. Potholes, kerbs, debris and poor road surfaces can quickly lead to punctures, tyre replacements or costly alloy wheel repairs.
For many drivers, these maintenance and repair costs come as an unexpected expense.
A Tyre and Alloy Wheel Maintenance Plan helps control those costs by covering inspections, puncture repairs, tyre replacements, and alloy wheel treatments throughout the plan's life.
With cover available for vehicles up to 10 years old and no mileage limits, drivers can protect their tyres and wheels even if they didn’t purchase protection when they first bought their vehicle.
What Is a Tyre and Alloy Wheel Maintenance Plan?
A tyre and alloy wheel maintenance plan helps drivers manage the long-term cost of maintaining their tyres and wheels.
Unlike an insurance policy that covers specific damage events, a maintenance plan focuses on inspection, maintenance, repair and replacement support during the plan term.
This includes services such as inspections, puncture repairs, tyre replacement when a tyre deflates and cannot be repaired, and cosmetic treatments for alloy wheels damaged by kerbing or road conditions.
The plan also includes periodic inspections to monitor tyre and wheel condition throughout the life of the agreement.
What Does the Tyre and Alloy Wheel Maintenance Plan Cover?
The plan provides protection for both tyres and alloy wheels.
Tyre Protection
The tyre section of the plan includes:

Periodic inspections of your tyres
• Unlimited puncture repairs during the plan term
• Up to five tyre replacements during the full plan term (not per year)
• Replacement tyres where damage cannot be safely repaired
• Support from a national network of tyre specialists
Replacement tyres are available with value options of:
• £150 per tyre
• £250 per tyre
• £450 per tyre
Tyre replacements are triggered when a tyre deflates and cannot be safely repaired.
Important note:
Tyres that develop bulges or structural damage without deflating (often called “tyre eggs”) are not treated as maintenance events. If you are looking to cover this type of damage, you may want to consider a
tyre insurance product instead.
Alloy Wheel Protection
The alloy wheel section of the plan covers cosmetic wheel damage, such as kerb scuffs and scratches.
The plan includes:
• Up to 10 alloy wheel treatments during the plan term
• Repairs carried out using SMART repair techniques
• Support for diamond-cut alloy wheels
If an alloy wheel cannot be repaired, the plan provides up to £250 towards the cost of a replacement wheel.
Repair Network
Repairs and replacements are carried out through a national network of approved specialists, giving drivers access to some of the UK’s best-known tyre and wheel repair providers.
Tyre services are available through recognised national tyre providers, including:
• National Tyres and AutoCare
• Halfords Autocentres
• ATS Euromaster
• F1 Autocentres
• Kwik Fit
• STS Tyre Pro
Alloy wheel repairs are performed by specialist mobile repair networks, including:
• SMART Repair
• Revive
Many alloy wheel treatments can be carried out at your home or workplace using mobile repair technicians.
Vehicle Eligibility
The tyre and alloy wheel maintenance plan is available for vehicles that meet the following criteria when the plan begins:
• Vehicles up to 10 years old
• Vehicles with an unlimited mileage
• Wheels up to 23 inches in diameter
Before the plan becomes active, the tyres and alloy wheels must pass a validation inspection.
Validation and Inspections
When the plan begins, drivers submit validation images through the RAMP mobile app to confirm the condition of their tyres and alloy wheels.
During the life of the plan, quarterly inspections are conducted via the app to monitor tyre and wheel condition.
‘In-person’ inspections may also be available. You can contact the RAMP team to discuss that option.
These inspections help identify defects early and ensure that tyres and alloy wheels remain eligible for treatment under the plan.
If a tyre suddenly deflates, an interim inspection event may also be triggered.
How the Plan Works
- Purchase the maintenance plan
- Submit validation images using the RAMP app to confirm the condition of the tyres and alloy wheels
- Complete quarterly tyre and wheel inspections
- If a puncture occurs, arrange inspection and repair through the network
- If a tyre cannot be repaired, a replacement can be authorised
- Alloy wheel damage can be treated within the plan's limits
Key Benefits of the Plan
A tyre and alloy maintenance plan delivers several benefits for drivers who want to manage tyre and wheel repair costs more predictably:
• Unlimited puncture repairs
• Up to five tyre replacements during the plan term
• Up to ten alloy wheel treatments
• No excess to pay when repairs are carried out
• Cover available for vehicles up to 10 years old and no mileage limits
• Support from a national network of tyre and wheel specialists
• Mobile alloy repair services available in many locations
The other key advantage is that, unlike many tyre and alloy wheel insurance policies, the maintenance plans can be purchased at any point in your vehicle ownership (subject to eligibility). Many tyre and alloy wheel insurance policies require you to buy cover within a set timeframe after buying the vehicle, often 30 to 90 days.
Tyre and Alloy Wheel Maintenance Plan vs Tyre and Alloy Insurance
If you are considering cover for your tyres and alloy wheels, then it may be a natural question to ask whether a maintenance plan or an insurance policy would be the best choice for you.
Whilst they may offer similar types of protection, they operate in different ways.
Maintenance plans focus on repair and replacement support over time, while insurance policies cover specific damage events.
For example, if you were to scrape an alloy wheel with an insurance policy, you would register a claim with the insurer and that single repair would be undertaken.
With a maintenance plan, any alloy wheel damage you may suffer is left to accumulate until your next inspection. As part of that inspection, any eligible damage can be addressed during the maintenance treatment process.
IMPORTANT: A maintenance plan is not an insurance policy. This means it is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Main features for:
