What is Gap Insurance?

Guaranteed Asset Protection is a form of extra protection that you can buy. It runs alongside your motor insurance policy and jumps into action if and when your DS is written off.

If your new DS is stolen or written off, your motor insurance company must offer you the value of your DS on the day the incident happened, which led them to decide to write off your car.

The longer you own your DS, the more miles you travel which will translate into a lower market value settlement.

Some automotive experts estimate that the "average new car" with "average usage" can depreciate up to 60% in just three years. Therefore, the amount your car insurance provider offers you could be thousands of pounds less than the purchase price you paid. It may not be enough to clear any finance left on your lease, contract hire, PCP, or hire purchase agreement.

Gap Insurance bridges the financial shortfall left behind after your motor insurance company's settlement.

How much does a DS Gap insurance policy from TLG cost?

There is no one set answer, as the price you are quoted will depend upon:

  • The purchase price you paid.
  • The length of cover you want to protect your DS with.
  • The type of Gap Insurance you want to buy.

As we do not pay for recommendations or affiliations, offer cashback, or provide voucher codes, the money we save is passed directly to you through reduced prices.

The quickest way to get an accurate quote is to click or call. We will need to know a little information about you and your DS. Our team and automated systems can provide a quotation and, if you want, discuss your options.

An introduction to DS

Some think DS means "Different Spirit," while others believe "Distinctive Series." However, the consensus is that it complements the first DS, which Citroën launched in 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. The DS faced stiff competition from the Mercedes-Benz 300SL, Aston Martin DB2 - 4, and Fiat 600; however, it was heralded as technologically advanced and stylish.

The DS model garnered attention for its innovative design, futuristic features, and advanced engineering, setting new standards in the automotive industry.

However, in 2014, the DS brand was established as a standalone brand under the PSA Group.

PSA Group, now part of Stellantis, owns several car brands, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel, and Vauxhall. These brands collectively offer various vehicles catering to market segments and customer preferences.

The DS model range includes several vehicles that showcase the brand's focus on luxury, style, and advanced technology. Some notable models in the DS range are the DS 3 Crossback, DS 7 Crossback, and DS 9. Each model offers a blend of elegant design, premium materials, and sophisticated features, catering to discerning customers who appreciate refinement and innovation in their vehicles. They aim to rewrite to normal and challenge what the automotive industry can achieve.
