The Toyota Yaris is one of our favourite city cars available on the market right now and has been for quite some time. In this day and age it can take a great vehicle to succeed in the city car market especially when we have some entrants such as the likes of the Ford Fiesta and the Fiat 500 dominating the division. The Yaris has held its own very strongly as the ideal city car all around the world so that is why today we are taking a special look at the car and some of the good overall value for money that it can offer you. The Yaris is renown for offering a smooth ride which gets you from A to B and as far as city cars are concerned, gets the job done. Toyota offer a good selection with their range from engines to the equipment to come along with each particular trim level. Three versions of the car have gone on sale all around the world since the models original launch in 1999 but the version we are looking at today is the latest third generation model released in 2011.
The great thing about the Yaris is that it offers a little something for everyone. Petrol, diesel and hybrid options are available across the range along with four trim levels which consist of Active. Icon, Sport and Excel. The entry level Active and the Sport models are offered with only the 1.3 litre petrol engine. Whereas the Icon is the only model offered with the 1.4 litre diesel but does also feature the option of the firms hybrid powertrain as does the range topping Excel. Equipment offered is very generous and we see entry level models including highlights as standard such as daytime running lights, Tyre pressure monitoring, electric windows, seven airbags and USB connectivity.
Icon models include more kit like fifteen inch alloy wheels,Bluetooth a reversing camera and projecting headlights. A start button and automatic air conditioning is however offered with the hybrid model. The Sport sees some nice new gadgets such as LED daytime running lights,LED lighting at the back end of the car,new seat materials inside the cabin, a spoiler, a DAB radio and Black alloy wheels. Now at the other end of the line we have the top range Excel. Both cruise and dual zone climate control are offered with this particular trim aswell as automatic windscreen wipers, leather materials used in the cabin, electric back windows and automatic headlights. Therefore all trim levels offer a little something extra that you can be very pleased with and can therefore allow the Yaris to remain a strong contender on the market especially when it comes to new cars being launched including the new Honda Jazz.
So there you have your engine options and all of the extras that come along with specific trims. So how much does each trim level set you back?. Well the entry level Active model goes on sale from £9,995. Icon at £12,745, the Sport from £14,995 and last but not least the range topping Excel can be purchased from £15,695. All four versions can be purchased from your local Toyota showroom right now.
