When we look at the on going success that the hybrid vehicle segment has been achieving over the years, we have seen some of the worlds biggest manufacturers make their presence felt. One of the biggest companies to try their hand in the division though is Mitsubishi who offer their Outlander model in plug in hybrid form. This particular vehicle has gained a great reputation amongst car drivers all around the world and is one of the most efficient vehicles that the company offer right now. We think that this Outlander variation offers a little something for everybody and to suit every bodies needs. Interested in power, efficiency or a mix of both?. In this case the three driving modes also offered with the car will serve you well. It is also loaded with some of the most recent and up to date vehicle technology that we can find on the market today. Plug in hybrids are certainly a form of car that are taking over the industry. Over the past number of years we have seen companies such as BMW try their hand in the field aswell as Volkswagen with their Golf GTE model. So just how much of a difference does Mitsubishi's addition into the segment offer?.
So firstly, the Outlander name is one that is instantly recognised to be a Mitsubishi model. The range has been offered in Europe for the past thirteen years and has gained much success over the duration of this time. The PHEV version certainly takes advantage of the situation that it is is by offering three different driving modes including EV mode which runs consistently on electric power alone. Secondly is the Series Hybrid mode which uses the electric motor and the petrol engine at the same time and your third selection is the Parallel Hybrid mode which is aimed more for when travelling at high speeds which again uses both the motor and engine but the engine is used mostly with the electric motor only kicking in when needed. Thanks to a charge and save system, we see the Outlander PHEV charge the battery whilst just using the engine and store the power for when it is needed. This is a big perk for Outlander fans around the world.
The brand also offer the car with some great standard features which include the likes of both cruise and climate control,a reversing camera and a lane departure warning system. With a DAB digital radio and a built in sat nav system, the Outlander plug in hybrid does a very good job of keeping up to date with other hybrids on the road. One of the big highlights for us is that your smartphone can connect to the car via Android and Ios operating systems and will also allow you to set the car to charge the battery from your phone.
So when we look at the list of options and features to come along with this PHEV model, it is certainly impressive. Do Mitsubishi offer a price tag though that is reasonable for what you are offered with the car?. Well in our opinion yes. The brand start sales of for this Outlander addition at £28,249 and the most you can expect to pay out for this particular vehicle stands at £39,999.
