The Honda Civic is one of the best-selling hatchback models that Honda has ever had to offer. The very first version of the Civic was first launched onto our streets back in 1972 and has been a constant in the Japanese brands' hatchback success with nine generations of the car going on sale throughout this duration.
This year though Honda is to bring the tenth generation of the Civic to the market. The latest update is receiving changes both in and outside of the vehicle. The new Civic was shown for the first time back in October at the Paris Motor Show where its sportier version, the new Civic Type R, was also displayed.
At the event, Honda revealed some of the new technology features and gadgets that will also come along with the vehicle. Today we are going to take a look into the car and see just how special it could prove to be this year.
The all new Honda Civic - what does it offer? 
The new generation Civic shows many changes both inside and out. The most striking change is a mover towards a more fastback-looking body shape.
Inside the car we see that Honda has included the fittings of new chrome handles for the doors, the steering wheel is multi-functioning and Honda has also fitted new fabric materials onto the seats and inside the cabin.
The new model will carry over the same range of both petrol and diesel engines as the current Civic. That means that in this new model, you can expect to find both a 1.8 petrol and a 1.6 diesel unit.
For the first time in a Civic though the firm has added their new 'Connect' system which operates via a touch screen system. A DAB digital radio and Bluetooth can be operated via this system, within a 7 inch LCD screen.
A built-in sat-nav system does not come as standard but is however offered as an optional extra. LED lighting, a refreshed back bumper and the skirting on the edge of the car have been made larger compared to the current Civic.
Will this be the best Civic to date?
This new Civic model will be available this year including all of its revised features. In the past, the car has been a big challenger going up against the likes of the Focus from Ford and the Vauxhall Astra as well as much more. So does this new model have the ability to maintain some momentum and continue to challenge these big cars?
Time will tell how the public receive the new Civic, but judging by the sales going back to 1972, it is a fair bet to do just nicely.
