Does the new Skoda Fabia offer something a little different?

The Fabia has been the favoured small car for the Skoda brand in the UK ever since the car was first launched in 1999. There have since been three generations of the Fabia on sale, with the latest arriving on the road just last year.

When you consider some of the biggest sellers that the Czech brand has on sale, the likes of Octavia and Superb come into our minds. new Skoda Fabia

The Fabia is the Skoda small car, with a five-door hatch and five-door estate options. The segment is highly competitive, and it makes perfect sense that the Czech manufacturer upgraded with a range of new features to compete in the market.

In our opinion, this car is an excellent alternative to the likes of a VW Polo, with which it shares many components being in the same VW Audi Group.

Great looks, great equipment features and an excellent decent output of power all contribute to what could be one of Skoda's best sellers to date. For those just looking for a smooth driving experience, the Fabia could be the ideal motor for you. If you are after more equipment ranges, though, the new model could also be for you with three trim levels on offer.

What changes have Skoda brought to the new Fabia?

Skoda has added some new features to the updated Fabia. In terms of styling, Skoda has added in more body sculpturing and aerodynamic design that has been included to help boost performance and overall agility for the car.

One of the most notable improvements has been the amount of space offered inside the car, with the boot also can carry much more than previous generations.

Two petrol and one diesel engine are all up for grabs across the new range. Your first is the 1.2 litre TSI petrol which comes turbocharged. Further down the spectrum, we see the 1.0 litre MPI unit. The Fabia and your diesel alternative come in the form of a 1.4 litre TDI giving out 90 or 105bhp depending on which power output you choose.

Three trim levels are on offer, with the range kicking off with S models followed up by the SE and finally the range-topping SE L model. Some great equipment such as Cruise control, front and back parking sensors, a keyless go system, and climate control all feature across the range as some great technology gadgets. Electric windows, central locking, stop-start technology and a tyre pressure monitoring system are all other extras thrown in with entry-level models.

The Fabia can be customised just the way you want it with seven colour options for this particular model. Red and Black, Blue and White, Dark Blue, Black with a White roof, Grey, Silver and White with a black roof are all offered. With so many additional features for the updated Fabia, the small car market has another serious contender.

What can you expect to pay for a new Skoda Fabia?

The brand has gotten the price tag just right on this car. It compensates for the sound levels of equipment on hand and helps the vehicle remain a strong player in the supermini segment. The cheapest price range gets underway from £10,600. The SE model costs £12,760, and the range-topping SE L is available from £13,610. However, all of these prices do rise depending on optional extras chosen to come along with the car.
