Does the Kia Sportage pose a threat to other suv models?

There is no doubt about it that suv models are the most popular selling cars on the market right now. With brands from Ford, Audi and BMW with their X range to name just a few joining the segment over the years. Some of the highest standards in the car world are taken by the suv range. Even luxury car brands are taking it to the next level by developing the cars which a number of years ago we would not of seen happening. With so much competition on the road right now in the segment though, it certainly takes something special to catch the eye of car buyers around the globe. Our question today though is the Kia Sportage capable of doing this?. The Sportage is one of Kia's additions into the range that is renown for offering good all round efficiency, power and equipment. When we think of what it takes to produce a great car in this generation, its not just power that comes into play anymore. Equipment, technology and safety features are just some components that come into play in this day and age. So how does Kia excel on this front?.

What can you expect from the Kia Sportage?

So in terms of what the highlights are of the Sportage, starting off with the engines, two petrols and three diesels find their place. Both petrol units carry 1.6 litres and we have a 1.7 diesel followed up with two, 2.0 litre diesels. Which engine you get depends on the trim level that you buy. There are six of them to choose from. '1', '2', both 1 and 2 in Alpine editions, the 'KX1 Sat Nav' 'KX 3 Sat nav' and 'KX-4' models.

Entry level vehicles carry LED daytime running lights, cruise control, Bluetooth, automatic windscreen wipers and sixteen inch alloy wheels as just some highlights. Dual zone air conditioning, an increase of alloy wheels size by one inch to seventeen inches, a panoramic sunroof and reversing cameras take a place in the next model up. Eighteen inch alloy wheels, Xenon headlights, a reversing camera and both front and back heated seating come in mid way. The gadgets just get better and better with a seven inch sat nav system,LED rear lighting, parking assistance and leather seating in a two tone colour design also take their place of pride. Equipment and technology wise, the Sportage offers one of the best line ups on the market right now. With generous entry level equipment too we see no reason why the Kia Sportage is not suv material.

The suv is offered in eight main colours with each colour having different tone designs to choose from. White, Blue and metallic Orange have proven to be some of the most popular. The colour of your car though depends on the trim level you purchase.

Is it worth it money wise?

So its all good having vast options when it comes to technology, engine, features and power. What about the cost though and does it reflect the all around good car that the Sportage is?. Absolutely. £17,500 is an entry level price for the KX-1 and '1' models. Further down the line, mid range models come in from £22,895 and you can expect to pay out a top range price beginning at £25,000 for the range toppers in the Sportage family. When it comes to designing a stunning and generous suv, Kia tick every box for us.
