Nissan, Renault or Mazda..who has the better SUV crossover?

We have a special post today which brings something a little different. We are today having three of the most popular cars on the road going head to head to find the result of the ultimate crossover SUV models. Nissan are one of the companies behind the revival of SUV models with their Qashqai which has gone on to be a very popular choice for many customers around the world. After this launch virtually every car company has responded to the success with the same style of vehicle. So much to the point that luxury car companies such as Rolls Royce and Bentley have even started to design similar models of their own for production. The Qashqai is not our vehicle of choice though, the Nissan model on the agenda today is the Juke which holds a reputation just as strong. The Juke will today go head to head with the Mazda CX-3 and the first vehicle being looked at today, the Renault Captur.

The Captur has only been on the streets of the United Kingdom for the past three years so it is still relatively new to the stardom. In its fist year though, the Captur proved just how dominant it was by selling 84,000 units world wide in just under a twelve month period. For the last number of months it was awarded the best seller in the crossover segment in 2013. This is a big accomplishment for a car on its first year of production. Renault offer the Captur in four levels of trim each offering more than the last. Entry level Expression models dish out ABS, a trip computer, sixteen inch alloy wheels and a warning system that advises the driver if they are not wearing their seat belt. Cool stuff indeed. Make your way up to the next level and you will come across the Dynamique Media Nav model. Aswell as the equipment from the Expression model coming into play, electric windows, automatic climate control,a leather steering wheel and gearstick and alloy wheels which grow by an inch to seventeen inches in size are also included. The further up the range you go you can expect to find some great highlights such as tinted windows, parking sensors,a leather cabin,a seven inch sat nav system,USB connectivity, traction control and Bluetooth.

The price range for the Captur gets underway from £14,195 with the Expression model. Prices rise upwards for the top spec model at £18,895. Prices vary depending on any optional extras you may decide to spend your money on and the Captur is on sale right now from your local Renault dealership. Both petrol and diesel options are available for the choice of engine varying on the trim level chosen.

How does the Mazda CX-3 compare to the Captur?

So with the Captur model offering some great value for money both in terms of equipment and optional features, that does beg the question now as to how the CX-3 can compare with this particular model?. The Mazda CX-3 could prove to be one of the best vehicles on the market that the Japanese brand currently offer. The CX-3 is known for offering some great features including some perfectly tuned engines which all consist of the companies SKYACTIV technology. The range of engines alone have proven to be a hit for Mazda with all offerings offering either a 1.5 litre or a two litre setup. Mazda split the range perfectly by offering a choice of three petrols and three diesels as a part of their choices. Four of the engines are offered in manual transmission setups but the petrol van be chosen with an automatic setup as can the Diesel Sport Nav model.

With that being said, you may be wondering what is this Sport Nav model?. Well that would be the range trim option. There are three of them on offer in total with SE and SE Nav models kicking off the range. SE-L and SE-L Nav models come in half way. As far as the kind of kit that the cars give out, these all depend on which particular models you decide to spend your money on. There is some very generous pieces of equipment available with the entry level range. A DAB digital radio, sixteen inch alloy wheels, cruise control and a touchscreen packing the sat measures seven inches. All of this kit comes completely standard. If you bring yourself to purchase the SE-L or SE-L Nav model, LED fog lights, parking sensors, braking assistance, a lane departure warning system and heated front seating also feature. A keyless entry system, daytime running lights, eighteen inch alloys,a seven speaker sound system is also brought into play when it comes to the top of the range Sport Nav vehicles.

How much can you expect to give out for your very own Mazda CX-3 though?. Well prices start at £17,595 and this will give an entry level model. If however you are more interested in the mid range trim, £18,995 is where prices start for this particular trim. The most expensive price however comes in with a cost of £20,495.

Now onto the Nissan Juke

Now finally to round it all off, we have what is considered to be one of the very best crossover/SUV models of our time and that is of course the Nissan Juke. With the amount of success that the Qashqai achieved, it comes as no surprise that the Juke has been as successful as it has been. The Juke really does have the potential to be the best vehicle on this list. Offered with 1.2 and 1.6 petrol engines are up for grabs but both can be chosen either with or without the fitting of a turbocharger. Diesel fans are not however left out as a 1.5 engine is also up for grabs. One of the latest versions of the car to go on sale carries some updates made to the bodywork design with the bumper and headlight designs receiving some change compared to previous models.

There are multiple trim levels up for grabs as far as the Juke is concerned. Visia, Acenta and Tekna are your three options. Depending on the trim chosen, the wheels begin at sixteen inches with the size growing by an inch across the entire range. A tyre pressure monitoring system is also offered across the entire range and automatic climate control can be chosen across the two highest trim levels. Top of the range Tekna models do however have their benefits with leather, heated sports seating being offered. Automatic windscreen wipers and a rear view camera also take their place of pride in the car.

The price range for the Juke kicks off with the entry level Visia at £13,620. If you shift up to the next trim level where we arrive at the Acenta, £15,320 comes in as the cost. Finally is the Tekna range. For this the cost begins at £17,770.

So that does it for the battle of the SUV/Crossover segment, which of these three vehicles grabs your attention more than the other and which do you think should be celebrated as the best SUV/Crossover on offer?.
